Dr. Owens is originally from Pennsylvania and completed her DVM studies at North Carolina State University. After graduating, she returned to her home state for residency training in clinical pathology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, earning her board certification in 2015. Kristin worked within a specialty hospital as a diagnostic pathologist in a commercial diagnostics laboratory for 6 years before joining Zoetis in November 2021. She has a love of cytology and a strong interest in the uses of artificial intelligence in veterinary medicine. She is an active member of both the ASVCP and ACVP and the recipient of the C.L. Davis Student Scholarship Award in 2014. She has peer-reviewed publications on topic including neuroscience, behavior and trauma, and clinical pathology. Away
from the microscope, Kristin enjoys spending time baking, traveling and volunteering at school events with her 2 children. Her pet family consists of 2 feisty kittens, a 17-year-old turtle, 2 guinea pigs and assorted fish.
