Co-Founder & Head of Medical Affairs
PetDx
San Diego, California, United States
Jason Chibuk MS, CGC is a Certified Genetic Counselor and serves as the Head of Medical Affairs for PetDx.
Prior to joining PetDx in early 2020, Jason worked at University of California, San Diego as a Genetic Counselor in Prenatal and Oncology Genetics, seeing over 5000 patients in nearly 9 years. This clinical background and expertise in Medical Genetics lends itself to a deep understanding of the day to day applications of clinical genetic testing in healthcare.
Most recently, Jason spent over 7 years with Sequenom and Integrated Genetics (LabCorp) as the Manager of Medical Affairs. In 2011, cell-free DNA testing (aka noninvasive prenatal testing, NIPT) revolutionized healthcare in Reproductive Genetics, Maternal Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics, with millions of tests run to date. Jason was involved from the very early days with the first cfDNA test to market for fetal aneuploidy (MaterniT 21 PLUS), and was responsible for initial clinical outreach and ongoing medical education aligned with the 2015 launch of the first genome-wide cfDNA test (MaterniT GENOME) that raised the bar for cfDNA testing in pregnancy worldwide. In addition to becoming a subject matter expert in cfDNA testing, Jason also was responsible for management of Medical Affairs activities in oncology, carrier screening, cytogenetics, microarray and whole exome sequencing.
In this role leading a nationwide team of Medical Science Liaisons at Sequenom, Jason focused on peer to peer medical education with over 500 scientific presentations nationwide, including major national and international medical conferences on 4 continents. Jason has also shared his work extensively, with over 20 posters and abstracts and several peer-reviewed articles.
