Dr. Tonatiuh Melgarejo obtained his Veterinary Medical Degree from the National A. University of Mexico (D.V.M. 1988), M.S. in Clinical Sciences (1993) as well as his Ph.D. (1998) in Comparative Gastroenterology (Clinical Sciences and Pathobiology) from Purdue University. He completed an Internship in Small Animal Medicine & Surgery at Texas A&M, and a Small Animal Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Pennsylvania (2001). He has been working in academia in the US for more than 30 years and is a holder of five US patents related to biotechnology. He is a Professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in California where he divides his time between clinics, teaching, and translational medicine research of relevance to both companion animal and human medicine.
