PhD Student, Epidemiology with Collaborative Specialization in One Health

Dr. Britteny Kyle, DVM, MSc is currently a PhD student in Epidemiology with a Collaborative Specialization in One Health at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph where she is studying management strategies for American foulbrood, a devastating honey bee bacterial disease. Britteny earned her Bachelor of Science degree, honors biology from the University of Western Ontario and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College. After a number of years in small animal practice, Britteny switched her focus to honey bee veterinary medicine. Britteny joined the Honey Bee Veterinary Consortium in 2018, and became president of the organization in 2020. Her work with the consortium has included chairing multiple conferences on honey bee veterinary medicine, developing a certification program for veterinarians to have day one competencies for honey bee practice, and working to establish educational opportunities for veterinary students across North America. Britteny joined the Department of Population Medicine in 2020, earning her Masters degree in Epidemiology in 2021 studying the spatial and temporal distribution of American foulbrood in the Ontario managed honey bee population.
