Dr. Margaret Gruen graduated with her DVM from the University of Illinois, and then went to North Carolina State University for her internship, residency in Behavioral Medicine, and PhD focused on measurement of pain in cats with naturally-occurring degenerative joint disease. After her PhD, she completed a post-doc at Duke University, and served as a Co-Director of the Canine Cognition Center. She is a board-certified veterinary behaviorist and currently an Associate Professor of Behavioral Medicine at North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine.
