Attendees will gain an understanding of adaptive versus maladaptive pain, including pain wind-up and the importance of pre-emptive analgesia. A multi-modal drug approach will be discussed. Treatment of pain must include drugs to address pain at multiple levels, including the central nervous system, anti-inflammatory components, and inhibiting perception. Physical modalities and future therapies will be discussed.
