The presentation will provide an introduction into why integrating Connected Care (telehealth) into your practice is important to your patients, your clients, and your success. We’ll cover the scope of telehealth, its lingo, some rules that need to be followed in its implementation, and a little bit about what we’ve learned about telehealth as it has been applied in both animal and human healthcare.

Learning Objectives:

Identify the various components of telehealth and know the language used to describe them
Understand what types of telehealth can only be conducted in the context of a veterinarian-client-patient relationship (VCPR) and which do not require a VCPR
Know what is required for establishing a VCPR, in what context, and why (e.g., federal VCPR as compared with state VCPR)
Understand how other regulations apply to use of telehealth in veterinary practice (e.g., controlled substances laws, health certificate requirements)
Understand some differences between the use of telehealth in veterinary medicine and human medicine.
