In this lecture, we will discuss the etiology and underlying causes for perineal hernias in dogs and cats and discuss the pre-operative evaluation of these patients. Appropriate surgical management as well as the latest data on outcomes will be presented. A discussion of the pros and cons of performing an abdominal approach in addition to perineal herniorrhaphy will be included.
