Feline urethral obstruction is a very common presentation for male neutered cats. There is still much discussion surrounding certain aspects of management such as type/size of urinary catheter, fluid therapy, when to recommend a perineal urethrostomy and use of alpha adrenergic antagonist. Through presentation of a clinical case, the lecture aims to address these points of discussion with support of literature to help guide the discussion.
Learning Objectives:
Review common clinical case presentations of urethral obstruction
Apply clinical information to presenting patients in a clinical setting
Recognize common material such as fluid therapy, surgical treatment, medical interventions needed to manage urethral obstruction cases
