This lecture will review the major endemic mycoses of dogs and cats and discuss current understanding of diagnostic tests for fungi and novel antifungal treatment approaches. Fungal infections covered will be tailored to the geographic region of attendee practices (eg. California/Arizona, coccidioidomycosis, upper midwest/northeast blastomycosis), but general principles will also be discussed that apply to diagnosis and treatment of all deep mycoses.
Learning Objectives:
Know what history and clinical signs suggest fungal disease
Understand new diagnostic tests for fungal disease and how to interpret them
Be aware of the indications, modes of action, and adverse effects of different antifungal drugs
