Learning Objectives / Objectifs d'apprentissage:

At the end of this session participants will be able to / Au terme de cette conférence, vous serez:

evaluate on transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography a tricuspid regurgitation with transvenous leads in place;
describe the benefits and risks of extracting transvenous leads in patients with tricuspid regurgitation before the treatment of the tricuspid regurgitation;
summarize the different percutaneeous technics available to fix the tricuspid regurgiation in patieents with transvenous leads;
plan the different steps of the management of tricuspid regurgitation in patients with transvenous leads; and
coordinate the management of patients with tricuspid regurgitation and transvenous leads.

Workshop Description: The workshop "Tricuspid regurgitation management in patients with devices" will include 3 case-based presentations and cover the following topics: 1) Evaluation of tricuspid regurgitation with transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography in patients with transvenous leads in place
2) Transvenous lead extraction in patients with devices and tricuspid regurgitation
3) Percutaneous treatment of tricuspid regurgitation in patients with devices.
The management of tricuspid regurgitation especially in patients with devices become more and more frequent and is a new "hot" timely topic. This workshop will fulfill the learning needs of those seeking a comprehensive and practical multidisciplinary approach to these difficult cases. Clinical cardiologists, echocardiographists, electrophysiologists and interventional cardiologists have to be involved together as a heart team in the management of these complex cases in whom a stepwise approach is most of the time tightly recommended with an evaluation with the echocardiographists, then the electrophysiologic evaluation on transvenous lead extraction and management of devices, and then the percutaneous treatment with the intervention cardiologist if feasible.
The CHRS education committee planned this workshop, jointly with the CSE and CAIC education committees. Members of these committees include community and academic cardiologists, electrophysiologists, echocardiographists, interventional cardiologists, cardiology residents and allied professionals from diverse practices and experience across Canada. The 3 education committees are composed of representatives from each of the following regions: British Colombia, Prairies, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Provinces. The 3 education committees have developed an objective and balanced representation of the topic of "tricuspid regurgitation management" that is completely free of third-party influence and/or support.
This multidisciplinary workshop is the 1st one on this timely topic of tricuspid regurgitation.
