At the end of this session participants will be able to / Au terme de cette conférence, vous serez:

planning a career and finding your niche;
criteria to use when finding a job;
considerations in how to make time for research and find funding;
define work life balance and how it changes as you progress in your career;
exploring the Importance of mentorship; and
networking - finding opportunities and building upon them.

Workshop Description: At the time you applied to medical school, there was no thought put towards how difficult it would be to transition from training to getting your first job. While we find the work that we do inspiring and gratifying, there are several stressors that trainees experience when transitioning to this first job. Some of these stressors change over time as we progress in our careers, from early to mid and even to late career.
In this session we will have a panel discussion focusing on the many issues that relate to this early transition with a 'view to success'. Important consideration will be made to think about finding that first job, how to incorporate research into your routine and a focus on wellness and how to achieve it. Questions will be fielded from the audience in attendance as well as pre-emptive questions from a national survey that was distributed prior to congress.
