Listeners will gain an understanding of the health challenges that the Red River Métis Community faces. This will involve exploring historical, political, cultural, and health-related factors, with a particular focus on diabetes and heart disease. The examination of the MMF-HWD Mobile Clinic Initiative and its impact will take place, alongside the highlighting of culturally sensitive diabetes education and awareness strategies our organization employs. The discussion will revolve around the significance of culturally relevant resources and distinctions-based healthcare approaches. Emphasis will be placed on collaborative efforts to enhance the health of the Red River Métis. By the conclusion of the session, participants will have acquired insights into diabetes management within the Red River Métis community and learn about culturally appropriate strategies poised to contribute to improved health and wellbeing for all Indigenous peoples.
