At the end of this session participants will be able to / Au terme de cette conférence, vous serez:

understand the challenges and opportunities women with heart disease are facing in the context of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging;
selectively apply cardiac magnetic resonance to help with the workup of patients with pericardial disease;
use cardiac magnetic resonance as an advanced tool to assess valvular heart disease; and
understand the role of CMR spectroscopy in patients with heart disease.

Session Description: This workshop is presented by the Canadian Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging. It will focus on current and evolving topics in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR). Talk 1: The role of CMR in women with heart disease will be reviewed. Talk 2: CMR can help with the assessment of pericardial diseases, the topic will be addressed in detail, with an emphasis on clinical application and integration with echocardiography. Talk 3: While echocardiography is the first-line diagnostic method for valvular heart disease, the role of CMR keeps evolving. The role CMR in the assessment of valvular anatomy and dysfunction will be discussed. Talk 4: Metabolic imaging has an established role in translational research. Its clinical role is emerging. This presentation will focus on CMR spectroscopy.
