Dr. Lonn completed her MD degree at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, her training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology and a Clinical and Research Fellowship at the University of Toronto and a Research Scholarship and a Master of Science degree in Health Research Methodology, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McMaster University in Hamilton.
Dr. Lonn served on the Executive Committee of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS), the CCS Council and chaired the CCS External Relations Committee. She was Ontario Governor, American College of Cardiology Board of Governors. She served also on major Canadian research granting committees and is a member of the primary panel for the CCS Lipid Guidelines since 2008.
Dr. Lonn’s main clinical areas of interest and expertise include cardiovascular prevention, heart failure and echocardiography. She served as Medical Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory until 2010 and is currently the Medical Director of the Cardiac Health and Rehabilitation Program and Interim Medical Director of the Heart Failure Program at the Hamilton Health Sciences.
Dr. Lonn has mentored numerous trainees, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, residents and clinicl and research fellows.
Dr. Lonn’s main research interests are in clinical trials in cardiovascular prevention and in ultrasound imaging in atherosclerosis. She is the recipient of numerous peer reviewed grants and industry contracts and has led several large international clinical trials in cardiovascular prevention and in atherosclerosis. She authored or co-authored over 270 peer reviewed manuscripts and 9 book chapters and was an invited speaker at numerous national and international meetings.
