Director of Prevention and Interventional Cardiologist

Dr Philippe L.-L’Allier, MD is the director of prevention and rehabilitation and a practicing interventional cardiologist at the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI). He is a recognized expert high risk CV rehab, cardiovascular prevention and in complex percutaneous interventions, intravascular imaging/physiology and acute coronary syndromes.
He obtained his medical degree from the Université de Sherbrooke (Sherbrooke, Canada) in 1992. He obtained the Royal College of Physician (Canada) Certification in internal medicine in 1996 (Université de Sherbrooke) in adult cardiology in 1997 (Université de Montréal). He trained in interventional cardiology and clinical research at the Montreal Heart Institute (Montreal, Canada: 1997-98) and at the Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland, USA: 1998-2000).
He joined the Montreal Heart Institute as staff interventional cardiologist in 2000. He successively served as Director of the Coronary Care Unit (2006-2010), Interventional Cardiology (2010-2018) and Prevention/Rehabilitation (2018-).
He holds a full professorship in clinical medicine with the Université de Montréal.
He has published more than 15 book chapters and has authored more than 75 peer-reviewed articles
His research and clinical interests revolve around atherosclerosis, with a focus on plaque imaging, vascular inflammation and new therapies. He has been and currently is involved in numerous international randomized clinical trials playing various leadership roles, including clinical events committee chairman, national coordinator, QCA/iFR Core Lab chairmen and executive committee member. He is also actively involved in numerous clinical trials as a clinical investigator.
