Simona started her academic journey at McGill University completing a BSc in Physiology. She then spent time working in Nunavut as a research assistant and completed a MSc of Interdisciplinary Studies (Indigenous Education and Medical Genetics, Arbour Lab) at University of Victoria. Her thesis partnered with the Gitxsan First Nations exploring the impact of Congenital Long QT Syndrome in their community. She is now in her final year of medical school at University of British Columbia and is grateful to have continued her research partnership with the Gitxsan throughout her training.
