Dr. Karina Gasbarrino (PhD, Experimental Medicine) is a postdoctoral fellow of McGill University/McGill Genome Centre, with 10 years of experience in basic science and clinical research, with expertise in developing and managing a large population-based biobank. Her current research program focuses on the investigation of sex-specific mechanisms that underlie the atherosclerotic process, biomarkers for early detection of unstable plaques, potential therapeutic targets to stabilize vulnerable plaques, as well as the development of computer-aided diagnostic tools to improve the diagnosis of cardiovascular-related diseases on ultrasound. She is passionate about raising awareness on the topic of sex differences and the importance of women’s health in the context of stroke research. She is also heavily invested in developing novel ideas and innovations within the medical industry.
