Linxi Mytkolli stands at the intersection of lived experience and research, advocating for the fusion of both realms to improve the lives of individuals with diabetes. With over 8 years in participatory research, youth wellbeing and healthcare policy, Linxi possesses a deep and nuanced understanding of the challenges and solutions in diabetes care and research.
Beginning her journey with Diabetes Action Canada as a Patient Partner, Linxi now plays a pivotal role as the Lead of Patient Partnership & Knowledge Mobilization. In this capacity, she ensures the experiences and insights of those living with diabetes are centered in research, making it more equitable, relevant, and actionable. Before her work with DAC, Linxi was a driving force at the Mental Health Commission of Canada, emphasizing her commitment to mental health.
Elevating her advocacy to the international stage, as the Canadian Health Delegate for the Youth Forum at the G20 India, Linxi uniquely centered her lived experience, being the sole delegate in the entire health track with firsthand patient experience. This allowed her to represent Canadian youth interests with an unmatched depth and authenticity in global arenas. In this role, she led the development of a strategic national policy framework, actively engaging with over 700 Canadian youth, top policy officials, and community organizations. Her advocacy, particularly in mental health, digital health, and health financing, has profoundly influenced global health policies. Linxi remains deeply committed to translating her global advocacy work into actionable, youth-centered health policies within Canada, collaborating with policy-makers, communities and patients to ensure a lasting impact.
As a first-generation Canadian and an individual living with a disability, Linxi's personal journey deeply informs her professional ethos. A graduate of the University of Ottawa and the University of Toronto, she brings a blend of academic rigor and heartfelt advocacy to the table.
