Dr. Cynthia Luk’s research focuses on identifying novel links between obesity and diabetes, and determining the role of adipose tissue in metabolic syndrome. She studies fundamental cell death, fibrosis or related signaling pathways to determine their role in obesity, diabetes or related health problems to help us better understand and address these conditions.
Dr. Luk is a clinician scientist and assistant professor affiliated with the Keenan Research Centre for Biomedical Science of St. Michael’s Hospital, Institute of Medical Science and Banting and Best Diabetes Centre of the University of Toronto. She trained at the University of Alberta, and McGill University. She completed her subspecialty fellowship and studied signal transduction pathways involved in diabetes at the University of Toronto.
