Dr Melissa Fiscaletti is an assistant professor of Pediatrics at l'Université de Montréal since 2018. She is a staff pediatrician and medical co-director of the metabolic bone clinic at St Justine's University Hospital and Research Center in Montreal. Dr Fiscaletti is also an active member of the neuromuscular clinic at the Marie-Enfant Rehabilitation Center.
After starting her career in Physical Therapy at McGill, she completed her Medical Doctorate and Pediatric residency at l'Université de Montréal. She continued her training with a Fellowship in Osteology under the supervision of Professor Craig Munns in Sydney Australia. In 2018, she obtained her MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McGill University.
Currently, Dr Fiscaletti is an investigator in osteoporosis, osteogenesis imperfecta, achondrolplasia and generalized calcification of infancy pharmaceutical trials at her institution. Dr Fiscaletti's research is particularly focussed on secondary (accquired) bone fragility in children with medical complexity such as Cerebral Palsy and Duchenne muscular dystrophy. She has published on bone health of long term pediatric leukemia survivors in the CIHR funded PETALe cohort study. She is currently leading the POP-CMC study investigating the role of a polygenic risk score in predicting disuse bone fragility in children. Finally, Dr Fiscaletti is a steering committe member of the Canadian Consorition of Children's Bone Health and will be co-chairing the upcoming CCCBH annual scientific meeting.
