Donna Vine is a Professor in Human Nutrition at the University of Alberta and is Co-Director of the Metabolic and Cardiovascular Disease Laboratory. Dr Vine has a basic to clinical research program exploring mechansims of cardiometabolic disease in a rodent model of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and insulin resistance, and conducts clinical studies to examine early cardiovascular disease risk and risk-reduction interventions in women with PCOS. Dr Vine leads the PCOS Together research and community outreach program aimed at improving our understanding of health outcomes and health care in women with and without PCOS in Canada. The focus is on cardiometabolic risk, diabetes and cardiovascular disease and improving health and health care in those with PCOS across the lifespan. Dr Vine is an Ambassador for the Women and Children's Health Research Institute (WCHRI) and Alberta Womens Health Foundation. Her research is supported by NSERC, WCHRI and Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
