Dr. Khan is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and a Clinician-Investigator in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Western Ontario, specializing in Advanced and Transplant Hepatology. He completed his medical training with distinction at the King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan and subsequently pursued post-graduate medical training in the United States where he completed his Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Chicago – NorthShore University Health System. He later pursued advanced fellowship training in Transplant Hepatology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Dr. Khan’s areas of research interest include: (1) Optimization and Management of Pre- and Post-liver transplant cardiometabolic conditions, i.e. post-transplant weight gain, diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome and allograft steatosis; (2) Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD); and (3) Portal Hypertension. Dr Khan is a Steering Committee member of the Clinical Practice Special Interest Group of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and a committee member of the Vanguard Committee of the International Liver Transplant Society (ILTS).
