Dr. Anita Chan completed the combined MD/PhD program at the University of Alberta, with funding support from Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research (now Alberta Innovates). She subsequently completed Internal Medicine residency at the University of Ottawa, followed by Cardiology residency and subspecialty fellowship training in Nuclear Cardiology and Stress Echocardiography at the University of Toronto. She is a Diplomate of the American Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology since 2018.
She was recruited to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute in 2020 for her expertise in Nuclear Cardiology. She is the Medical Director of the Exercise and Nuclear Laboratories at the University of Alberta Hospital/ Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. She is also the lead for the Nuclear Cardiology rotation for cardiology trainees and received an Academic Presenter of the Year teaching award in 2022 from the Cardiology Residency Program.
