Dr. Krystina Lewis PhD, RN, CCN(C) is Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Ottawa and Affiliate Researcher at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and in the Centre for Implementation Research at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. She works with people with lived and living experience, clinicians, researchers, and policy-makers to develop and implement effective knowledge translation interventions to engage patients and the public in decisions about their health, and in research. Dr. Lewis has been awarded funding from the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, CANet, Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Institutes for Health Research. She is Co-Scientific Director of the Ottawa Patient Decision Aids Research Group, a member of the International Patient Decision Aid Standards Collaboration and the Integrated Knowledge Translation Research Network. Most recently, she has taken on the lead role for the Knowledge Mobilization stream of the Brain-Heart Interconnectome (uOttawa/University of Ottawa Heart Institute). She has maintained Canada Nurses’ Association certification in Cardiovascular Nursing since 2010. She completed her PhD (2018) at uOttawa which was supported by a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Fellowship Award and was awarded the Governor General’s Gold Medal for Outstanding Dissertation in Medicine, Health Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies in 2019.
