Chronic Disease Management Nurse Educator - Cardiac
Saskatchewan Health Authority
Introducing Ben Njaa, a Registered Nurse within the Chronic Disease Management department of the Saskatchewan Health Authority. Prior to enrolling in the College of Nursing, Ben completed his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology where his passion for health and wellbeing grew stronger. Upon finishing his Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Ben worked as a Registered Nurse on a cardiology/cardiac surgery inpatient ward. He now is thoroughly enjoying his position within Cardiac Rehabilitation where he is fortunate to both learn with and from patients, while striving to meet them where they are in their journey with chronic disease. He is grateful to work with an amazing interdisciplinary team, and believes providing equitable service and care is vital to secondary prevention. Ben has a major interest in behavior change, and is excited about continuing to learn how to best assist patients in making long-term sustainable changes. He believes that curiosity plays a crucial role in developing a strong rapport with patients and ensuring they receive the support they need. Outside of his professional life, Ben finds true joy in spending quality time with loved ones. The family cabin in Christopher Lake, Saskatchewan is his favorite place to be; enjoying the outdoors and connecting with friends and family. Ben is beyond grateful to be able to take part in the Vascular 2023 conference. Both inside and outside his work life, he is frequently inspired by a quote that hangs on his office door coming from Ted Lasso, the popular TV show character, which is: “Be curious, not judgmental.”
