Dr. Tasnim (Taz) Vira is Cardiologist with additional fellowships in Echo/TEE and advanced cardiac imaging. She has had additional hands-on training and experience in Peri-Procedural and Intra-Procedural Imaging for Trans-Catheter Structural Interventions (eg. tricuspid TEER, mitral TEER and TMVR, paravalvular leak plug, ASD closures, etc). She also has a teaching appointment at the University of Toronto and has spent over 200 hrs last year teaching cardiology and echo fellows in clinic, the echo lab and the Cath lab. In addition, she has a busy community cardiology clinical practice and has experience as the Echo Lab Director for a busy community clinic Echo Lab. Taz has been involved in several international humanitarian missions over the years including volunteering her time to teach echo/TEE skills to Internists/Anaesthetists in Guyana, to set up a Cardiac CT program with Radiologists in Tanzania and to expand the knowledge of local Cardiologists in 3D TEE and pre-procedural planning in India. She also has played a role in local Health Advocacy and Community Screening programs.
