Dr. Kramer is a Clinical Professor in the Departments of Critical Care Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Calgary. He completed medical school at the University of Manitoba, followed by internal medicine residency and critical care fellowship at the University of Calgary. He worked as a community internist / intensivist in Brandon, Manitoba, before completing a neurocritical care fellowship and Master of Science (Health Evaluation Sciences) degree at the University of Virginia. He has worked as a critical care physician and neurocritical care consultant, primarily at the Foothills Medical Center in Calgary, since 2007. His research interests are primarily in neuromonitoring, prevention of secondary brain injury, and assessment of prognosis in critically ill brain-injured patients. Dr. Kramer has served on the editorial boards of the journals Critical Care Medicine and Neurocritical Care. He is also the Medical Director of the Alberta Organ and Tissue Donation Program. He was recently the co-chair of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society position statement on neuroprognostication of comatose patients following resuscitation from cardiac arrest.
