Dr. Dave Nagpal is an associate professor of Cardiac Surgery and Critical Care Medicine at London Health Sciences Centre / Western University. After graduating from Queen’s University with a B.Sc. in Physiotherapy, he received his Medical Degree at Western University. During his Cardiac Surgery residency at Western University, he completed a Master’s degree in International Healthcare Management, Economics, and Policy at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. This was followed by a Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Western and then an Advanced Heart Failure fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Nagpal contributes locally, nationally, and internationally to clinical, administrative, and research bodies. He currently serves as Co-Director for the Multi-Organ Transplant Program at LHSC, the Surgical Director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Mechanical Circulatory Support Program at LHSC, Physician Lead of the Heart Transplant Working Group at TGLN / Ontario Health, Vice President of CANCARE, and Chair of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Professional Community at ISHLT. He is the recipient of several resident teaching awards, and contributes to undergraduate, graduate, and post graduate medical education. Dr. Nagpal has over 70 peer reviewed publications and abstracts, and has presented at many national and international conferences. His research interests include resuscitation (fluid therapy, temporary and durable mechanical support for management of respiratory failure / heart failure / cardiogenic shock), cardiac transplantation, and investigation and optimization of cardiac surgical and critical care outcomes.
