Dr. Kumar is a non-invasive cardiologist and the Chief of Cardiology at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, a large University Hospital in northern Ontario. Dr. Kumar is an Associate Professor of Medicine at NOSM (Northern Ontario School of Medicine) University. He specializes in non-invasive imaging (echocardiography, cardiac MRI, cardiac CT) and is the current President of the Canadian Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging. His research focuses mainly on hemorrhagic myocardial infarction.
Among others, Dr. Kumar received a CIHR operating grant, the CIHR Banting and Best Award, and the Young Investigator Award from the European Society of Cardiology. He previously received the "Best Teacher of the Year Award" by NOSM University.
