Learning Objectives / Objectifs d'apprentissage:

At the end of this session participants will be able to / Au terme de cette conférence, vous serez:

visualize life-threatening pathologies on echocardiography and appreciate their management;
distinguish benign from malignant masses identified on echocardiography and understand the associated clinical implications; and
identify complications of valvular heart disease using echocardiography to diagnose and facilitate management.

Workshop Description: "My Worse Echo Nightmares VIII: Cases from Coast to Coast" is the 8th annual workshop that uses a case-based approach in the echocardiographic assessment of rare, interesting pathologies and acute, cardiac emergencies. The workshop will entail a variety of interesting cases that includes (1) valvular heart disease (2) cardiac tumors (3) pericardial disease (4) infective endocarditis (5) complications of myocardial infarction (6) congenital heart disease. The workshop features a diverse faculty of speakers from across Canada and will target an audience comprised of sonographers, nurses, cardiology trainees, academic and community-based cardiologists. The workshop will span two separate sessions, each comprised of 5 unique cases, with each presentation lasting 7-8 minutes and adequate time for questions and panel discussion. This longstanding workshop has been very popular at previous CCC meetings, and the planning committee is excited to deliver 2 unique sessions showcasing the most interesting pathologies seen within different echocardiography labs from across the country.
