Early hearing detection and intervention programs have made it possible to diagnose hearing loss and provide early intervention for children with hearing loss at earlier ages than ever before. These achievements have also led to uncertainty about hearing aid candidacy for children, particularly for children with mild bilateral or unilateral hearing losses. In this presentation, we will review audibility-based hearing aid candidacy criteria for infants and children and discuss how these criteria can be implemented clinically.
