Because point-of-care-viscoelastic testing is being utilized more commonly in obstetric settings for management of hemorrhage, this luncheon round table will review the physiologic changes of pregnancy, discuss management of obstetric hemorrhage through a “real life” case-based presentation, and describe utilization of resources in surveying coagulopathy with point-of-care viscoelastic testing. Application and function of viscoelastic methods that simultaneously measure multiple facets of hemostasis—coagulation, platelet function, and fibrinolysis—will be examined.
