Unfamiliarity with triage and management of acute and chronically ill obstetric patients is a major barrier to providing the highest quality care. This course will give MFM learners practical tools to approach clinical challenges in the way that OB anesthesiologists and Intensivists do. This course will simplify hemodynamics, interpretation & application of monitoring techniques, and management of complex diseases in the setting of pregnancy.

Learning Objectives:

To summarize the principles of OB Anesthesia and Intensive Care on L&D
To identify how anesthetic choice influences the hemodynamics of L&D patients with systemic disease
To interpret and use point of care tools to inform decision making
To recognize the indications, utility, and alternatives to invasive monitoring
To explain how to recognize, diagnose and manage complex diseases in critically ill patients
