Cara Bader is a Senior Manager of Transit, Bikes & Scooter Policy for Lyft in the Midwest. At Lyft, she has helped launch the first docking shared scooter program in North America and Lyft’s first stations capable of charging shared micromobility fleets on the street, both in the Divvy system, the City of Chicago’s shared micromobility system operated by Lyft.
Before joining Lyft, she served as Chief of Staff for the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity, leading the day-to-day operations and execution of programs under a $2.3B annual budget and leading business engagement and relief efforts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, she served in a variety of roles in the Chicago Mayor’s Office, including policy director for Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Deputy Chief of Staff for transportation, transit and regulatory operations for Mayor Lori Lightfoot, and at World Business Chicago, the city’s public-private partnership for economic development.
She earned a Master’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in economics and international studies from the University of Iowa. Cara lives in the Humboldt Park neighborhood in Chicago and recently liberated herself from her Apple Watch.
