Director of Landscape Architecture
Grain Collective
BROOKLYN, New York
A landscape architect and horticulturist with over 15 years experience, Kate is a strong believer in shared outdoor space as a vehicle to strengthen community. Whether designing an urban plaza or an actual playground, she is always inspired by the concept of play: every project can be a joyful space that speaks to end users of diverse ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
Kate has worked on projects including affordable housing sites, waterfronts, playgrounds, campuses, and green roofs. In addition to leading the design process, she manages documentation and construction, overseeing multimillion dollar budgets and shepherding projects from conception to completion. Her favorite projects cultivate relationships between urban residents and the ecosystem in which they live and work, encouraging them to be active participants in their outdoor environment.
Kate lives in Brooklyn, where she is an active participant in her own outdoor environment, enjoying hikes and bird-watching in Prospect Park, long stints on the playground with her children, and solo runs throughout the borough.
