Jay Renkens, AICP, is a Principal at MIG, Inc., a national, multidisciplinary planning and design firm. He specializes in planning for neighborhoods, districts, cities and regions; transit-oriented development; and public realm, streetscape and plaza design. Jay's passion is creating environments that support individual and community innovation, health and well-being. In doing so, he helps cities, towns, neighborhoods, facilities, and campuses become true places that are inclusive and provide equitable opportunity and choice for living, working and playing. Jay’s expansive portfolio includes adopted comprehensive plans, area plans, and site master plans from across the country that utilize an inclusive, participatory planning and design approach. A few of these projects include: Future 2040 Comprehensive Plan for Charlotte, NC; San Antonio, TX Comprehensive Plan; Blueprint Denver; Downtown Denver Area Plan; Boston Downtown Crossing Plan; Colorado Convention Center Master Plan; Dallas TOD Plan; Maryland Parkway Corridor TOD Plans in Las Vegas; and the Regis University Campus Master Plan in Colorado. Jay's education inlcudes a Master of Urban Planning and Regional Planning from Portland State University; a Master of Psychology of Health and Exercise from Purdue University; and Bachelor degrees in Health Promotion, Communications and Graphic Design from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
