Frederick D. Hardyway, Ph.D., is the Director of Transition Services for Partners for Sacred Places in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Hardyway received his Doctorate in World/West African/Middle Eastern history and has researched and written on the built environment surrounding sacred structures in communities in Senegal and parts of the United States. He has a background and Masters in Church history as well as spent 12 years as a licensed and Certified real estate Appraiser with experiences with places of worship as well as properties seeking historical registry status. At Partners, he works with congregations in transition to assist them in finding civic-minded ways to repurpose their historic sacred properties. Aside from work and research, one of his current projects is creating a photographic zine of Sacred structures and Gardens of Washington and Oregon.
