Laura S. Griffith is the Deputy Director of the Association for Public Art, a position she has held since 1990. Griffith oversees aPA’s collections management and ongoing annual conservation program, which received an Outstanding Commitment to the Preservation and Care of Collections award from Heritage Preservation and the American Institute for Conservation. She helped coordinate Heritage Preservation and Smithsonian Institution’s Save Outdoor Sculpture (SOS!) Philadelphia program, and was a reviewer for their Treatment and Achievement award programs. Publication contributions include Archetype Press’ Conservation and Maintenance of Contemporary Art and Collections: A Journal of Museum and Archives Professionals.
Griffith has coordinated and presented at many conferences, participated in numerous committees and advisory groups including Peer Review Panelist for the NJ State Council on the Arts, Steering Committee for the College Art Association’s Public Art Dialogue, Conservation Advisory Committee for the City of Philadelphia, and is the co-founder and facilitator of the Philadelphia Public Art Forum. Prior positions were held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia. With a Master’s Degree in Art History from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, she currently serves as Co-Chair of the Metuchen Downtown Alliance Public Art Team.
