Dr. Kathleen Wolf, University of Washington (Seattle), has been active in urban forestry/greening social science and technology transfer for more than 25 years. She conducts nationally recognized applied research concerning built outdoor environments and human response and behaviors (www.naturewithin.info/). As director of the Green Cities: Good Health (GCGH) project, Dr. Wolf is a leader in understanding and communicating the full range of human health and wellness benefits provided by urban nearby nature. Dr. Wolf has published extensively on city trees and nature for health benefits. From a program perspective Kathy is a member of the Nature and Health Alliance of scholars and practitioners across the Seattle metro region, and is an Interdisciplinary Research Leadership Fellow with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation programs on community health. Building off of prior research publication, her awareness of the broader research corpus, and recent program activity Kathy is now working to translate science to better policy and planning in cities so that high quality and accessible nearby nature is available to all residents. As a result of this initiative, Dr. Wolf has access to extensive, national level science and professional networks for project development, review, and outreach.
