Rob Armstrong, PhD is a Transportation Planner and Project Manager in WSP's Philadelphia office where he works on a variety of grant writing, transportation, historic preservation and park projects. Prior to joining WSP in early 2022, Rob worked for the City of Philadelphia for over 16 years at both Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, serving as Preservation and Capital Projects Manager and at the Office of Transportation, Infrastructure and Sustainability (OTIS), serving as Trails and Transportation Program Manager.
Rob implemented numerous trail, park, streetscape and historic preservation projects over the course of his career in public service for the City of Philadelphia, working as project manager from concept to completion. Rob successfuly worked on numerous grant funded projects for Philadelphia, securing a variety of federal, state and local grants for public trail and park projects. Rob is current Chair of the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office (PA SHPO) Board and earned his PhD in US History from Lehigh University, studying the Planning of Philadelphia's City-wide Park system.
