Michael Fichman is a Lecturer in the University of Pennsylvania's Masters of Urban Spatial Analytics program. He is a Planner and a Research Associate at PennPraxis, the Weitzman School of Design's applied research and engagement arm. He specializes in geospatial and quantitative analysis, program evaluation, community and economic development, and transportation economics. Prior to this work, Michael spent over a decade in the music industry – as a performer, DJ, composer and record label executive. He has toured extensively in this capacity. He is active in organizing in the nightlife community. He is a consultant to the Creative Footprint Project, which has recently created community-driven creative space surveys in Berlin, New York and Tokyo.
