Travis Hulse is a certified member of both the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and Certified Floodplain Managers (CFM) organizations and currently serves as the Housing Policy Director for the City of Tulsa in Mayor GT Bynum’s Office. In his role, Mr. Hulse is leading the City's first Affordable Housing Strategy and collaborating with community parners to create quality housing opportunities for all Tulsans. Current initiatives underway include opening a low-barrier shelter, certifying religious facilities as shelters for extreme weather events, achieving a goal of $500 million dollars in community investment towards housing initiatives by 2025, and leading a Mayor-Counicil task force on housing, homelessness, and mental health.
As a public servant of Tulsa for almost 8 years, Mr. Hulse has spent time in various city functions all with the intent of moving Tulsa towards becoming a globally-competitive world class city. Prior to his current role, he served as the Principal Planner for the Tulsa Planning Office. There he oversaw a variety of long-range planning initiatives including, in 2020, the Downtown & Surrounding Neighborhoods Housing Study & Strategy and more recently in 2021, the development and official adoption of the new Neighborhood Infill Overlay (NIO) District.
