Principal
Fehr & Peers
Salt Lake City, Utah
Maria Vyas, AICP, is a Principal in the Salt Lake City office of Fehr & Peers, with 25 years of experience in land use and transportation planning. She thrives on projects that require creative, inter-disciplinary methods of evaluating complex issues. She led the development of Salt Lake City’s Street and Intersection Typology Design Guide, which established a new set of multi-modal cross sections that repurpose right-of-way allocations to promote placemaking, greening, personal mobility, curbside access, and vehicle mobility. Her project expertise is truly multi-modal in nature: recent projects have included freeway corridor studies on Interstate 580 in the Bay Area as well as I-15 throughout the state of Utah; a Complete Streets corridor redesign and road diet on Salt Lake City’s Main Street; first/last mile strategies to support BRT in Boulder, Colorado; two iterations of the Utah Statewide Long Range Transportation Plan; transit alternative analysis for Boise’s Valley Regional Transit; and program support for the Utah Transit Authority. Maria's work has been published by the Transportation Research Board, and she has received awards from the Northern Utah Chapter of the Women in Transportation Seminar, the Utah Chapter of the American Planning Association, and the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
