Elise Bremer-Nei, AICP/PP, is the Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator for the New Jersey Department of Transportation. She is a licensed professional planner with NJDOT’s Bureau of Safety, Bicycle and Pedestrian Programs and has worked on local, county, regional and state bicycle and pedestrian projects for over twenty years. Elise manages NJDOT’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Program, which includes the Safe Routes and Bicycle and Pedestrian Resource Centers, the Safe Routes to School Non-Infrastructure Program, and the Local Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Assistance Program. She is also the Pedestrian and Bicycle Emphasis Area Team Leader for New Jersey’s 2020 Strategic Highway Safety Plan.
Elise currently serves on the AASHTO Committee on Planning’s Multi-Modal Task Force. Originally from the Midwest, she received her Geography degree from Rutgers University. She has previously worked for the Monmouth County Planning Board and for Urbitran Associates, a private engineering firm. Elise has also served on the executive board of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Planning Association and has assisted her local community as the chair of the Environmental Commission and as a member of the Shade Tree Advisory Board. She is proudest of her partnerships with advocates, volunteers and professionals on Complete and Green Streets.
