Katharine Ange has 23 years of experience and currently serves as Principal at Renaissance Planning. Kate excels in strategic communications and facilitation that fosters constructive dialogue about community issues related to growth, transportation, equity, public health and environmental sustainability. She believes that knowledge exchange and shared problem solving among diverse community members, stakeholders and elected officials is the foundation for building consensus around major policy changes or new project initiatives. Kate has worked on community visions, land use and transportation policies and areawide, corridor and regional plans for small towns and large metropolitan areas. Topical areas of expertise include rural community development, transit-oriented development, scenario planning, equitable development, community health, multimodal transportation and community engagement. Kate holds a Master of Urban and Environmental Planning degree from the University of Virginia, and an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from Rollins College. When she isn't traveling nationwide to help create “cities that work,” she spends time with her two unruly dogs in her empty nest gardening, tending to a very old house and enjoying the great quality of life in her own community of Arlington, Virginia.
