With over 11 years of experience as the lead planner for two Idaho cities and 13 years as a planning consultant throughout the west, Hilary Patterson brings a blend of optimism and realism to the profession. Hilary has led Coeur d’Alene, Idaho's planning efforts since November 2014 with a focus on placemaking, economic development, housing and community engagement. Prior to joining the City of Coeur d’Alene, she served as the Planning and Economic Development Manager for Post Falls, Idaho. Hilary is recognized as a leader in the planning profession. She is APA Idaho's Chapter President, where she previously served as Vice President and a Regional Representative. She serves on Connect Kootenai Board of Directors, has served on housing panels and economic development boards, moderated ULI Idaho's Emerging Trends program, and attended the Placemaking Institute. Hilary’s contributions to planning have been recognized by APA chapters with Outstanding Plan Awards -- Coeur d’Alene's Comprehensive Plan, Post Falls' Strategic Plan, and Chico's General Plan. Hilary helped form the Regional Housing & Growth Issues Partnership that launched in January 2021 and continues to develop innovative solutions and partnerships. Hilary holds a M.S. in planning and a B.A. in psychology from the University of Arizona.
