Nur Asri is a community planner and economic development strategist committed to building equitable neighborhoods and commercial districts. In her various roles as consultant, Nur has developed award-winning real estate and destination development strategies in major markets and diverse communities across the country, including the Massachusetts Rapid Recovery Plans, City of Cambridge Retail Strategic Plan, and Puerto Rico Bottom Up Destination Plan.
Since the onset of the pandemic, Nur has worked closely with other experts in the urban retail and economic development industries to strategize and help address myriad challenges facing tourism and small businesses. In May 2020, with the support of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation and US Bank, she co-authored the Commercial District Recovery Guide – a toolkit of COVID-19 response strategies for place-based organizations and mission-driven intermediary partners. More recently, Nur also authored a Tourism & Hospitality Toolkit as part of a suite of resources developed for downtown practitioners and leaders across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Nur earned her Masters Degree in City Planning from Pratt Institute and is a Policy Fellow with the Design Trust for Public Space.
