BFFC’s Founder and Executive Director, Orion Kriegman, has extensive experience organizing community-driven initiatives focused on climate resilience and sustainability. After completing a Masters of Public Policy and Urban Planning at Harvard Kennedy School, he spent nine years at the Tellus Institute coordinating the Great Transition Initiative, an international network of scholars and activists examining the requirements for a transition to a sustainable planetary civilization. Before launching BFFC, he directed the Jamaica Plain New Economy Transition (JPNET), which catalyzed community leadership to launch new initiatives such as a time trade circle, farmers market, land trust, and spaces for community dialogue and action across race and class divisions. He has also completed training in Permaculture Design via the Resilience Hub in Portland, Maine. He is supported by a small team of six full-time staff members who bring unique skills and expertise in the areas of non-profit operations, community organizing and engagement, communications, and food forest design.
