Emergency Preparedness Buddies program coordinator
Town of Brookline
Brookline, Massachusetts
Sophie Gordon is the Emergency Preparedness Buddies program coordinator for the Town of Brookline. She was born in Paris, France but has had ties to Brookline since the age of 5. She eventually came back to the United States 30 years ago to earn her Master of Business Administration in Marketing in 1994 and worked in various positions in customer service and business development. She took a long hiatus from work to focus on raising her three children and to pursue her passion for pottery.
Sophie has been the Emergency Preparedness Buddies Program Coordinator for the Town of Brookline since 2016, and thoroughly enjoys working with the program’s elders and volunteers. One of her accomplishments has been creating educational programs about emergency preparedness for seniors - from falls to town-wide emergencies. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she opened and managed the Brookline COVID-19 call center. During that time, she realized the struggle and isolation older adults were facing without access to technology and developed the Tech Buddies program. She currently lives in Brookline with her husband, her children, and three cats.
